As y’all have no doubt noticed, there has been a bit of spam making it through iPandora’s Akismet filters this last week.
I’ve been deleting them as I see them, but they keep coming. A few more each day.
What do y’all use to block spam on your blogs?

When God Blesses

No Comments Yet | Posted by matthew on October 5th, 2007 in I, Pandora

A short piece I wrote several years back, but which I feel is particularly applicable to my current state as well.

When God blesses you there is no doubt you’ve been blessed.
When God blesses the sun shines like there’s no tomorrow, and it shines on you.
When God blesses, your heart fills beyond its dry and broken [...]

Can You Say Oligarchy?

Okay yeah I understand that we vote for our representatives but honestly how good is this Bush-Clinton legacy for our Republic?
Yahoo LINK
I honestly think Hillary will pass through the Democratic primary and that’s something to be concerned about. And though I doubt she’ll be our next President it’s kinda scary to think of [...]

More Gender Roles Musings

My English critical thinking class seems to be in the full swing of the gender roles discussion; it is our first essay! This follows a rhetorical analysis paper we did on an excerpt (from “Gender Blending: Confronting the Limits of Duality) about what is ‘masculine’ and what is ‘feminine’ in North America and the [...]

Making Purple

I’m sick. I tried making it through the day at work, but the congestion and the sore throat and everything else prevented me from focusing and providing good service, so I came home to rest after about 4 hours trying. Now I need to write for my blog, and I don’t have the energy to [...]

If You Commented

Just got back from an enchanted week, more on that later, perhaps. But the Akismet queue had 304 comments marked as spam. I did not feel inclined to go through each page of comments to check for any mis-marked. If you commented, and you comment has not shown by now, please resubmit the comment and [...]

This is an abbreviated static blogroll listing the many blogs I read each day now. I use the Google Reader to do my viewing and skim over 100 (possibly 200) articles each day (I love my job) and read the full contents of probably 20-30 articles throughout each day. It’s a replacement for talk radio [...]

Vocab Lesson For The Day

Do you have one of those dictionary services that send you a “Word of the Day”? If not, here’s your “Words of the Day” courtesy of the Americans for Tax Reform blog.
-myopic: raising taxes on a declining revenue source to pay for wealthier children’s health care
-louche: politicians that run on a Pledge to work against tax [...]

Apology

It’s been a little while since I became absorbed in a book. I really didn’t feel like blogging today.
It is indeed an good feeling to be pulled between the covers into the world of a well-crafted tale full of fantasy and adventure off in the wide, unfamiliar world… and then the phone rings… and I [...]

First they went after the Communists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Communist. Then they went after the homosexuals and infirm, and I did not stand up, because I was neither. Then they went after the Jews, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Jew. Then [...]
